Awful or Wonderful

                                                                            ÀÌÁÖÇö (Laya)

The place where I have played in my life is my school. My school is the most important place where I¡¯ve played because I¡¯ve learned about many things in school. There were many friends who influenced me in lots of different ways, and in school, I could experience many difficulties for my future life.

The first reason that I picked my school for the place where I have played an important part in my life is that I¡¯ve learned many things in school. As an elementary student, I learned a lot of things such as mathematics, science, music and lots of other subject. I like social studies the best because it contained Korean history, which was my favorite. I didn't like math and science because they were hard for me. Once, I didn't study for my test, which was right a day before the test. When my mom caught me not studying hard, she yelled at me, ¡°If you don't want to study, just go and play some stupid computer games that you like!' Then, I did something unexpected. I ran into the computer and played games. As the result, I got really bad marks with the test. However, it all got better when I was in grade 4. It was a relief for both my parents and me.

The next reason is that there were many friends who influenced me in lots of different ways. There were many friends who gave me plenty of lessons in both good ways and bad ways. In good ways, for example, a girl-who seemed almost perfect for me-was always studying or reading. Somehow, I became friends with her, and we competed with each other by test scores. Therefore, both of us tried to study more than all the other students so that we could get better marks because of it. She is now my best friend and she is still studying hard to beat me. In bad ways, a girl, who used to be in my class, was so nice to me so I could be friends with her easily. Because of her kindness, almost every girl in my class was friends with her, so she had lots of friends around her. Later then, I found out that she wasn't as nice as I thought. Some of her friends told me that she was passing bad things about everyone, including me. I couldn¡¯t have friends for a quite long time due to the fact that. That was a bad thing for me. It truly was an awful period of my school life. Many friends helped me out in so many ways, but some didn't.

The last reason is all about experience. Difficulties would happen to all people in the future. According to my parents and my teachers, school isn't just for studying; it is also for experiencing difficulties in my future life, too. I had some problems with my friends, my grades, and many other things. However, it didn't take a long to realize that all the bad things weren't happening only to me. Everybody has problems of each; even the teachers have problems in their life too. My grade 6 teacher said that the reason why I was going to school wasn't just for studying textbook stuffs which we don't use much in real life. She said that the real reason was to experience the difficulties that would be waiting for me in the future. She said, ¡°The problems you are having right now would help you in the future.¡± Today, if I have some problems, I just remind myself that it will help me someday.

The word 'school' is the creepiest word in the whole universe for someone, but to me it is a useful place that someday will be very helpful for me. I should say that I hate those tests though. Some say schools are awful, and some say schools are wonderful. Whatever people think they are, I think both opinions fit for it.
