Hi, I¡¯m Mark and I¡¯m writing to tell you how it was like in Canada. I was totally amazed by what this country (town in general) can give me. The environment is clean, you can see whole bunch of stars at night (unless the clouds are up in the sky) just like in country sides of Korea. Only thing you might dislike is the cold winter temperatures like ¡®– 20 degrees¡¯, but your body will get used to it. And what I think is the best part in here is snow that falls in winter. If you come here, you will see the white color everywhere you go by mid December. Then you get to go to bogganing down the trenches along the sides of roads, which is really fun. This town is close to recreation facilities too! Swimming pool, skating rinks and curling rinks are right in town, and the ski hill is 25 minutes away. This is fairly close compare to Korea, where you have to drive at least 3 hours to go skiing.
The school here is really awesome. You might find Language arts hard, but once you pick up the concepts of English, it¡¯s not too bad at all. Math part in Canada is easier than that of Korea. The government of Manitoba puts out curriculums that you already know for Math. Teachers are really friendly as long as you are a good student. They put out activities for kids to enjoy every year and they also have spirit days. When all the kids dress up in their pajamas, they do certain things.
At last, the people here were very friendly and helped me to learn Canadian cultures and English. I found English easy to learn when I talked to them and try to speak English as much as I can. They are really cooperative when you need help with your own funky projects of assignments. They will also help you organize a birthday party if you really want to hold.
If you come to this town to learn Canadian cultures, English and life experience, be sure to make a lot of contact with Canadians, participate in a lot of public events, try to do your best on school works and other things, respect others, and follow your homestay family¡¯s rules. It you manage to do all the above, you will be like a Canadian in just a couple of months.
